"Passive Invasive"

The Augustana Slough path follows the shape of the slough and connects two parts of the campus at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. Over the decades college students would release goldfish into the slough which dramatically altered the ecosystem of the slough. In this case another invasive species known as "man" intervened and created his own disaster when a water-pipe that was under the slough leaked into several buildings on the campus. The slough had to be drained and many of the fish were disposed of, but several remain.
